Abstract:

Introduction: The development of human resources and especially the modernization of skills and expansion of lifelong learning is crucial to the economy based on knowledge. Training is a set of actions designed to obtain from the trainee the necessary professional knowledge and skills.Purpose: The aim of the review was to explore the effective strategies for self-education and the development prospect of continuing vocational training in the health sector.Method: The data was searching method for the preparation of this work, collecting our data through electronic databases PubMed and Google Scholar. Limiting the chronology will help for a more modern work based on the newest articles and books. Articles that do not coincide with the role of health professionals as well as lifelong learning, which was chosen for the creation of a credible review were excluded.Results: The continuing education is a necessity for professional development, empowerment and autonomy in decision making. To make an organization competitive and attractive to maintain highly trained professional health workers should take continuing education, which is a tool for quality assurance.Conclusions: In a constantly changing society, new knowledge, skills and competencies are needed to fulfill our multiple public and private roles as employees. In this context of continual change, it is assumed that the knowledge provided by the current education system is inadequate and does not correspond to the knowledge that will be necessary in the future.
